Description
The Imperial Assault Villain Packs existed to solve a specific problem: the campaign game gave the Imperial player an army, but rarely a personality. Adding a named antagonist changed the shape of a campaign entirely - suddenly the heroes were not just fighting stormtroopers, they were being hunted.
Few characters carry that premise better than Boba Fett. The most feared bounty hunter of the era arrives here with the Soldiers for Hire agenda set, a three-card sequence that lets the Imperial player put a price on the Rebel heroes' heads and pursue them across the campaign, plus a thematic side mission built around the contract. In skirmish play, the pack adds new Command cards and the Imperial Space Station map with two head-to-head missions.
The sculpted plastic figure replaces the cardboard token supplied in the Twin Shadows expansion, and is the component required to field Boba Fett in tournament play - which is why these packs were never really optional for competitive players. Beyond Imperial Assault itself, the figure has a following among collectors and painters working in other Star Wars miniature systems, where the sculpt quality holds up well against far more expensive alternatives.
Collectible Value
Fantasy Flight has discontinued the Imperial Assault line, and that changes everything about how these packs trade. There is no reprint schedule, no restock, and no possibility of the licence being revisited in this form - the entire remaining supply is whatever sits in warehouses, on shop shelves, and in collections. Sealed expansions have appreciated steadily since the line closed, and the trajectory has not reversed.
Boba Fett is the single most recognisable character in the entire Villain Pack range, which puts this one under pressure from two directions at once. Imperial Assault players need it to complete a collection or to field the figure legally in skirmish play. Star Wars collectors want it because it is Boba Fett. That overlap is why this pack consistently outperforms less prominent villains from the same wave.
Factory-sealed condition matters more here than on most game expansions, because the value is concentrated in a small number of cards that are trivially easy to separate from the box. An intact clamshell is verifiable proof of completeness - no missing Command card, no substituted figure, nothing quietly removed for another collection.
